My last Beauty Cabinet post was about my favorite cleansers. Now I want to share my current favorite serums. But first, what is a serum?
Serums are lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. That’s the technical definition. Here’s mine, magic in a bottle.
I first heard about serums watching a Jackie Aina video on sheet masks…another of my favorite beauty products we’ll talk about later. She intrigued me and I headed out in search of “serum.” I had no clue which one to get, all I knew was I was going to get me a shot of magic juice for my skin.
I did a little research and found several posts on the subject. A few products were always mentioned. I attribute that to excellent marketing. It’s sort of like the Bioderma Micellar Water, if everyone is talking about it, it’s either a very good product or very good pr. In the case of Bioderma, it was a little of both.
Serums are like any other beauty product. There are different ones for different skin needs. I suggest consulting with a dermatologist, aesthetician or beauty professional for help on what is best for your skin.
As for the serums, one product kept coming up, Sunday Riley CEO. I have to admit, I was a little suspect and then I got a sample. OMG! I love this stuff. I don’t know what’s in it, all I know is I like how it feels and smells. But I didn’t want to fall for the first one, so I tried a few more.
Let me clarify. I don’t have wrinkles or a skin problem. Thank you Jesus for good genes. However, I like the glow and softness I get when I use a serum. I have also noticed my makeup lasts longer with this extra moisturizing layer.
I’m a fan and will continue to use serums in my skincare routine. I don’t use all of these at the same time. However, sometimes I layer serums. For me it’s all about staying moisturized.
I tried several serums, but these are the ones I liked and how and when I use them..
